HOW TO PROTECT YOUR INVENTION

If you have a new product or invention, determining how to protect that new product or invention is very important.  You must anticipate that if your product is successful then competitors will attempt to copy your invention and enter your market space.  While success is very important, it is also frustrating when others merely copy your success without recourse.  And knowing that even large companies have difficultly stopping knock-offs and illegal copies of their products is less than comforting.  The best way to fight knock-offs is to own a patent , secure a trade secret or develop a strong trademark  brand reputation very early.  With patents, you can sue the inventor and seek injunctive relief to prohibit the copying, and with a trade secret you can hide valuable technology within your product such that the general public cannot decipher your inventive means.  Ultimately, over time, it is your trademark brand that drives the public to seek out your product over all others.
